Paris Broadbent Dead - Buried with Masonic Honor in South Boston Cemetery

Paris E. Broadbent who died at his home at Fairplains Nov. 19, 1907, was buried
in South Boston cemetery Friday Nov. 22, funeral services being held at the home
and afterward at South Boston M. E. church and Rev. Braund officiating. 
Sheridan orders I.O.O.F. and K.O.T.M., of which he was a member, attended the
home services, and the F. and A. M. lodge of Greenville conducted them.  

Paris E. Broadbent was born in Wisconsin Mar. 27, 1837.  May 5, 1880, he was
united in marriage to Lucy E. Bovee and two children came to bless their union –
Bessie now Mrs. E. C. Peterson, and little Walter, a lad of 7 years.  In 1894 he
purchased and took charge of the Amsden flouring mills in Montcalm county where
he lived until his death.  

Too much good cannot be said of him who is gone.  In the home he was ever a kind
husband and father, in the community a good and loyal citizen, in business a man
of honor and integrity.  To know him was but to honor and respect a man of quiet
reserve.  It has been said of him “he had not an enemy, but all who knew him
called him friend.”  We shall miss the pleasant words his lips were so wont to
speak, but the life of true manhood which he lived will leave a sweet and tender
memory in the hearts of his friends – and those who were most dear to him in
life may find solace in the thought that his true and noble life has left its
imprint on all those with whom he came in contact, that he lived not in vain.
