Mrs. L.P. Brock, 72, a lifelong Ionia County resident, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Gertrude Clark, in Princeton, N.J., Wednesday evening. It was expected that the body will arrive in Ionia Friday evening. Mrs. Brock was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Milligan, the former one of Ionia’s contractors, and was born in Ionia. She had lived for a short period in Muir and for several months had been cared for at the home of her daughter who returned from abroad last summer when her mother became ill. Mr. Brock was the first register of deeds to hold office in the new courthouse after its erection and Mrs. Brock served under him as the first deputy register of deeds. She was a member of the Church of Christ and of the Stevens Thompson Mason chapter, D.A.R., and in the latter organization served as curator. In this capacity she had collected and filed many valuable historical records. She spent hours on the work and did an endless amount of corresponding and visiting while bent on completing some of the record. In the historical room at the library there are compiled columns of clippings as well as many written articles that will be invaluable in the future as historical data. She had been looking forward eagerly to the centennial that Ionia is to observe next year. Besides her daughter, she leaves her husband, a son, Stuart, of Marion, O.; a sister, Mrs. Edith Tunison, of Los Angeles, Cal., and three grandchildren.
