Ionia Sentinel Standard, 7 Jun 1977

Vern. J. Brockman, 67, of 1060 West Lincoln died early Monday evening at Ionia
County Memorial hospital following a short illness.  He was born March 19, 1910,
the son of Albert and Alice Allen Brockman and lived his entire life in Ionia.  

He married the former Lucille Schmitt March 9, 1932.  She preceded him in death
in September, 1959.  He later married Cletis Greenhoe March 26, 1960.  He worked
for 21 years at Ionia Manufacturing, A.O. Smith and General Tire, retiring in 1972.

Surviving besides his wife are one son Thomas of Ionia, two daughters, Mrs.
Robert (Joyce) Duell of PawPaw and Genevieve Wright of Ionia, and one
stepdaughter Mrs. Dale (Maxine) Edwards of Sheridan; 13 grandchildren, three
step-grandsons, and five great-step-grandchildren.

Services are Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Leddick funeral home with Rev. Chet
Erickson of Battle Creek officiating.  Burial is in Sunset Memorial Gardens. 
The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home Tuesday and
Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.  A memorial fund is established for Ionia county unit
of the American Cancer Society.
