Last Rites for Bernice M.Brooke
Mrs. Bernice M.Brooke, 70, passed away early Saturday morning at the Osteopathic 
Hospital, Grand Rapids, where she was admitted late Thursday night.

She was born May 14, 1899 in Eaton county ,near Sunfield, the daughter of 
Fredrick and Ellen (Showerman) Collier and was a  1918 graduate of the Sunfield 
high School.

She married W.Lance Brooke, of Sandwich, Ill., on June 21,1922 and they came to 
Lake Odessa about ten years ago from Grand Rapids.

Mrs.Brooke attended Central United Methodist church and the Adult Fellowship and 
was a member of the Friendly Neighbors Farm Bureau of Sunfield.

Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Mrs John (Beulah) Harkness and Mrs 
Leona Binns, rural Lake Odessa; three sons, Gerald of Casper Wyoming, Royce of 
Lake Odessa, and Merlin of Sunfield; 15 grandchildren and a foster son, Raymond 
Powell of rural Lake Odessa.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday at 1:30 at the Pickens Funeral Chapel with 
burial in the Sunfield cemetery. Rev. Marvin Zimmerman officiated.
