Muskegon Chronicle
Ellen S. Brooks died at her home in Danby township, Ionia county, aged 75 
years. She came to Michigan in 1845 and was a teacher in Portland and 
neighboring district schools from 1845 to 1850. She had been a member of the 
Methodist Church at Portland since 1845.
