The family had previously lived in Greenville and Detroit. She was born October 9, 1904 at Lovells, near Grayling, and moved with her parents one year later to Belding. Graduating from Belding high school in 1924, she later graduated from Ferris Institute. Before moving to Greenville, she was employed in the Jolly Kid Garment Company of Belding. Her first marriage was in 1927 to Ross Rogers, and they had two children. Margaret and Charles who survive. Mr. Rogers died when the children were young. Other survivors are her husband James Brooks, parents Mr. and Mrs. Charles Woodruff of Belding, two brothers, Edward of Ann Arbor and Louis of Belding and a maternal grandmother, Mrs. Martha Castle. Body will be brought to Belding for burial and funeral arrangements will be announced later.
