Portland Observer, 6 Mar 1907

Nancy, widow of the late Willard Brooks, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs.
Byron Beebe, with whom she made her home, in Danby on Friday last, aged 83
years.  Funeral services were conducted from the house last Sunday afternoon by
Rev. Fistler and burial made in Portland cemetery.

Deceased was a native of Massachusetts but came to Washtenaw county, Michigan,
at a very early day, coming to Danby 63 years ago with her husband, being among
the first settlers of that township, and she had resided there continuously ever
since, Mr. Brooks having died some years ago.  Beside Mrs. Beebe she is survived
by Mrs. T. William Smith and Mrs. Jas. Jeffers of Danby and John W. Brooks of
this village.  Deceased was a fine old lady of the old school – motherly,
neighborly and beloved by all who knew her.
