Ionia Standard, 8 Jan 1897

Alfred Brooks died Tuesday morning about 1:30, at the home of W. Mitchell, in
Berlin.  He recovered apparently from the effects of the poison, and died from
pneumonia.  He is reported to have suffered intensely in his last hours.  The
body was taken charge of by the parents, and the funeral will be held from the
Church of Christ, at 11 a.m. on Friday.  He leaves a wife, but no children.
