Ionia Sentinel Standard, 30 Nov 1936

The death of Charles L. Brooks, 70, occurred Monday morning, November 30, at the
home in Ronald township.  Mr. Brooks had been an invalid for the past four years.

He was born in Ionia, January 1, 1886 and was the son of Erastus and Mary Jane
Brooks.  On December 31, 1892 he married Mary A.. Whitmore.  The ceremony was
performed by Rev. W.H. Scott of the Church of Christ of which Mr. Brooks was a
member.  They moved to a farm in Ronald township where he has lived for 46
years.  His wife preceded him in death June 1, 1935.

He is survived by a son, Vere, and a daughter, Mrs. Herbert Ward, both of Ronald
township and four sisters, Mrs. Henry Robertson, Mrs. Myrtelle Peck of Honolulu,
and Mrs. B.H. Segar and Mrs. Jane Carpenter of Grand Rapids.

Funeral services will be held at the home in Ronald township, Wednesday,
December 2 at two o’clock with Rev. Paul L. Stewart officiating.  Burial will be
at the Woodard lake cemetery.
