John Rodney Brooks Sr., 74, of Greenville, formerly of Belding, died 
Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at Spectrum Health Butterworth Campus, Grand 
Rapids.  John was born Aug. 13, 1932, in Saginaw, the son of Ernest and Laura 
Lacross Brooks.

John was a veteran of the Korean War, proudly serving in the United States Air 
Force.  In earlier years he worked at Belco Industries Inc. in Belding.  John 
was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4406 in Belding and was a post 
Ninth District commander from 1990 to 1991 and post commander from 1986 to 
1988, served on the County Council and was the state drug chairman from 1992 
to 1994.  John also was a member of Belding Masonic Lodge 355 FA&M.

John was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Glenna Reed.  John 
is survived by his son, John R. Brooks, Jr. and Glenda Neuenchwander of Cedar 
Springs; his sister and brother-in-law, Annie and George Crebessa of Belding; 
his brother, Ernest D. Brooks of Rock Hill, S. C.; and his nieces and 
nephews.  In keeping with his wishes John has donated his body for medical 
research to the University of Michigan Medical School.  A gathering time 
celebrating his life and accomplishments is 4 pm Sunday at Belding Veterans of 
Foreign Wars Post 4406.  The service will start with Masonic services followed 
by military honors and a luncheon.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.  Care and 
services were entrusted to Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding.
