The Ionia County News, Thursday, June 16, 1949

Mrs. Julia Brooks, died suddenly about 4:30 Wednesday  morning, June 15, at 
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lyle, 642 W. Main St., which had been her home 
for the past nine years.

Mrs. Brooks was born in Easton township, Ionia county, July 12, 1866, the 
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Lyle, and had lived in or near Ionia all of her 
life.  Had she lived until July 12, she would have been 83 years old. 

A member of the Ionia Church of Christ for more than 50 years, Mrs. Brooks 
attended services there regularly and took part in activities of the women’s 
societies of the church when her health permitted.

Surviving are several nephews and a niece, Harry Lyle and Orlin Rowley, Ionia, 
Oscar Lyle, Toledo, O., Andrew Stevenson of Grand Rapids, Allan Lyle of Big 
Rapids and Mrs. James Sweeny of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.

Rev. Wayne Davis will officiate at the funeral service from Stone Funeral Home 
at two o’clock Friday afternoon.  Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
