The son of Cevil W. Sr. and Mary F. Sargeant Brooks, he was born June 2, 1925 in Belding. Mr. Brooks was a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Army in Germany, and was a life member of Lester J. Sitts Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5065 in Sheridan. On April 3, 1970, in Greenville, he married Elaine Ruth Ransom. He retired from Federal-Mogul in Greenville after 30 years of service. In his retirement PeeWee was an active volunteer for the Montcalm County Commission on Aging, logging thousands of miles throughout the county delivering meals, groceries and taking fellow seniors to doctor’s appointments and shopping. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and had also been a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and the United Auto Workers unions. He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives, Dorothy Dehl Brooks and Betty Chadwick Brooks; son, Terry Brooks; brother, Dwight Brooks; and sister, Berniece Helms. He is survived by his wife, Elaine Brooks of Buckley; children, Robert and Lucinda Brooks of Belding, Marlene and Terry Bigelow of Sheridan, Edward and Cindy Macomber of Pierson, Mary and Doug Postle of Ionia, Nancy and Russell Cazier of Sheridan, Tom Zinn of Buckley; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Gladys and Ken McQueen of Stanton, Alice and Clarence Herbert of Pinconning; aunt, Hazel Midlam of Greenville; mother-in-law, Ella Fox of Buckley, special friend Carol Hagen; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral and committal services at 3 p.m. Sunday at Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home, Greenville, with Pastor Jerry McVicker of Hillcrest Community Church of Cedar Springs officiating. Military honors rendered by Lester J. Sitts VFW Post will follow. Envelopes for memorial contributions to the Montcalm County Commission on Aging are available at the funeral home, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday.
