Last Rites Held for Mina Brooks

Mrs. Nina Brooks, 91, passed away Wednesday afternoon at the Ionia Manor, where
she had been a patient for about six years.  She was born in Barry County June
19, 1879, daughter of John and Minerva (Barlinger ) Gerkey, and had been a
resident of the Lake Odessa and Clarksville areas most of her life.  Her
husband, Fred, passed away in 1950.

Surviving are two granddaughters, Mrs. Larry Stafford of Palo Alto, Calif., and
Mrs. Jerome Thelen of Fowler; three grandsons, Frederick and Robert Hendee of
Portland and Raymond Hendee of Park Ridge, Ill.; 13 great-grandchildren and one
great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 Saturday afternoon at Pickens Funeral Chapel.
 Rev. Richard Cromwell officiated, with burial in Portland Cemetery.
