Woman killed in Ionia Township hours fire ID'd.
IONIA TWP.-Authorities have identified the woman who was killed in the Feb. 18 
house fire in Ionia Township.

Judy Brooks, 66, was found dead inside the home, according to the Ionia 
Department of Public Safety.

A Facebook fundraiser was created for Brook's funeral expenses. It has raised 
$1,175 as of Monday, Feb. 22.

The Ionia DPS as dispatched to a structure fire at 6:54 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 18, 
in the 2200 block of Kellogg Road in Ionia Township.

Ionia DPS Director Troy Thomas told The Sentinel-Standard on Monday the origin 
of the fire was in the south wall of the residence.

An exact cause of the fire is still undetermined at this time, Thomas said. the 
Ionia DPS and state fire marshal are investigating the cause.

The house was engulfed in flames when DPS arrived Thursday morning. Attempts by 
firefighters to enter the house were unsuccessful due to the heavy fire load.
