Hasting's Reminder - Saturday April 13, 2024

RICHARD LEE BROOKS, SR.

Richard Lee Brooks Sr., age 75, of Battle Creek, MI. passed away after a short 
illness on Sunday, April 7, 2024 surrounded by his family at Rose Arbor 
Hospice.He was born on September 21, 1948, the son of Jesse Fredrick Brooks and 
Lois May (Carpenter) Forman.

Rich attended Lakewood High School through the 11th grade.After high school, he 
worked for General Motors in Lansing and left to work for the C&O Railroad as a 
trackman and welder for 12 1/2 years. He moved to Marshall,MI, married Kathleen 
Miller on September 19, 1991 and worked as a janitor for the Marshall Public 
Library. Years later retirement they moved to Battle Creek where he resided 
until his death.
 
Rich is survived by his wife, Kathleen (Miller)Brooks; brother, Robert (Cindy) 
Brooks; two sons from previous marriages,Richard Lee (Kimberly)Brooks Jr., 
Gregory Paul Brooks; daughters, Michele Lee (VanWormer) Marshall,Eileen Marie 
(VanWormer)Miller, Aimee Lynn (VanWormer)Bennett; 10 grandchildren, aunts, 
uncles, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother Terry Brooks.

Rich loved being with family and playing with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed 
hunting, fishing, watching movies on TV and traveling. 

At this time cremation has taken place and a private family memorial service 
will be held at a later time.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Centrica Care 
Navigators, formerly Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
