GEORGE HENRY): SENTINEL-STANDARD, IONIA, MI, Friday, February 21, 2003, p. 2: "OBITUARIES - Betty Elaine Brooks, 77, went to be with the Lord February 18, 2003 at Montcalm health Center in Greenville. She was born in Ionia July 1, 1925 to Otis Cecil Chapin and Alta Alberta Smith Chapin. On June 24, 1944 she married George Henry Brooks in Ionia. She was a member of the Lady Auxiliary of the Sheridan VFW and a member of the Moose of Ionia. She had many friends and relatives and will be missed by all. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, George; two daughters, Sandra Seaman and Mary Jones and her special friend Terry McFarland; grandchildren, John and Taffy Seaman, Joseph Seaman, Adam and Amy Jones, Terry McFarland Jr., and Kendra Jones and special friend Dan Clasper, almost grandchildren, Candi Banks and Ginger Savage; great grandchildren, Devin Cooper, Darren Cooper, Zachary Jones, Allie Jones, Dillon Closser, and Jessie Banks; one sister, Marilyn and Guy Hoppough; one sister-in-law, Eunice Brooks; brothers-in-law Melvin Brooks and Robert Nummer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Otis and Alto Chapin, Howard and Ester Brooks; two sisters, Lorain Miller and Dorothy Nummer; two brothers, Larry and Gerry Chapin; sister and brothers-in-law, Edna Hall, Mattie Brooks, Virginia Brooks, Bobby Brooks, Floyd Brooks, Kenneth Brooks, Spike Miller and Raymond Brooks. Funeral services for Mrs. Brooks will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 21, 2003 at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia with Rev. John Madvig officiating. The family will receive friends and family Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Anyone wishing may make a memorial contribution to Ionia Moose Lodge or charity of your choice."
