County News - Thursday, Oct. 20, 1955

Mrs. Esther L. Brooks, 113 Cleveland Street, died suddenly Tuesday morning, 
October 18, in the Ionia County Memorial Hospital, after being ill only 
eight hours.

The daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Merrit Moore, of Nashville, she was born April 
18, 1898, and married to Howard Brooks, of Nashville, July 8, 1919. The 
family came to Ionia from Belding in 1933.

Surviving are her husband, Howard; eight children, George, Howard Jr., 
Melvin, Floyd, Robert Morey, Kenneth and Mrs. Edna Hull, all of Ionia; three 
sisters and one brother, Mrs. Sue Pinfold of East Jordan, Mrs. Blanch Golden 
and Mrs. Alice Joliff, East Lansing, and Albert of Canada. She also leaves 
fourteen grandchildren. A son, Raymond, was killed in the U. S. Navy in 
1941.

Mrs. Brooks was a member of the Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church. 

Funeral service will be at two o'clock Friday afternoon from Myers Funeral 
Home. Burial in Tuttle cemetery.
