He was born December 22, 1926 in Belding, the son of Howard and Esther (Moore) Brooks. He spent many years in the Ionia area. He served in the Navy during World War II, from June 1944 to August 1946. He was a smoke house operator for Peschke’s Meat Packing Co., until his retirement in 1988. He was a firm believer in God and attended Temple Baptist Church regularly while in Ionia during the summer months. He and his wife spent winters in Alamo, Texas, at Bibleville, serving the Lord. He is survived by his wife, G. Eunice (McGinness) Brooks’ children, Linda and Lee Cook, Janet Brooks, Joe and Doris Brooks, Jim Brooks, all of Ionia, Cathy and David Harness of Sherwood Park, Alberta, Nancy and Martin Prebble of Muir; 23 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, George and Betty Brooks, Melvin Brooks and Floyd Brooks. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Christie Eunice, one grandson, four brothers, one sister, and his parents. Funeral services for Mr. Brooks are 11 a.m. Saturday at Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. James Houseman officiating. Interment will be in Tuttle Cemetery. Visitation is Friday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Lake Funeral Home, Ionia.
