She was united in marriage to William Charles Brooks April 2, 1878, and they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1928, Mr. Brooks passing away the following November. To this union were born three children, Charles L., Rollin E., and Anna M., who survive as do six grandchildren. She was the last of a family of 11 children, coming with her parents to the state of Ohio in 1865 and to Portland, Michigan, in 1868. Mrs. Brooks was a conscientious Christian, being a member of the Sebewa Corners M.E. church 42 years, taking an active part in all its branches of work until a few years ago. She was made a life member of the Missionary society in Grand Rapids in 1877. She was a kind, loving wife, a fond, generous mother, a charitable neighbor, with a kind word and a smile for all who came her way, and is mourned by a host of friends.
