L. and Roxy Brown, was born Oct. 4, 1894, at the farm home east of Hubbardston, where she resided until at the age of 13 she entered St. Mary’s academy at Windsor, afterward going to Aekley Hall, Grand Haven, from which school she graduated in 1912. While at Akeley Hall she became a member of the Episcopal church. Being of an ambitious nature, Bernice went to Detroit to business college and took a course in stenography in which work she was engaged at the time of her decease. She passed away the night of March 28, at Grace hospital, Detroit, after an illness of one week following an operation for appendicitis from which she never fully rallied, her age being 23 years, 5 months and 24 days. She is survived by her parents and two sisters, Mrs. Carrie McVeigh of Hubbardston and Mrs. Abbie Miller of Detroit, also a host of loving friends who will cherish her memory. The remains were brought here Saturday and the funeral held at the home Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Interment made in the West Side Cemetery. Bernice won a host of friends in Detroit and many beautiful floral tributes from them accompanied the remains here. Relatives and friends here showed a like appreciation of her character and the room was banked with flowers.
