All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/mi/mifiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Sandy Heintzelman sheintz@iserv.net June 11, 2011, 11:34 am Portland Observer, 18 Feb 1885 Mr. John Brown, whose death was announced in our last issue, was born in the town of Bridgewater, Grafton county, New Hampshire, Sept. 15th, 1789; was converted at the age of 20 and united with the M.E. church soon after; two years later was married to Sarah Ingalls (who preceded him to the Glory Land 18 years ago). About five years after removed to South Hero, Grand Isle county, Vermont where he resided about 20 years, from here he removed to LaGrange county, Indiana, staying there but two years, from there he moved to the township of Danby, where he has resided until four years ago. Mr. Brown moved to Ionia county, Mich. about 47 years ago, making him one of the pioneers of the county. He was a member of the M.E. church nearly 75 years – a firm believer in all the doctrines. He lived a consistent christian life and died a peaceful death at the ripe old age of a little over 95 years.
