She was born in South Bristol, Ontario Co., New York, in 1803. In 1826 she was married to Hiram Brown, who after a married life of 53 years still survives her. Forty-two years ago they came to Michigan, and settled in North Plains township on the place where the family still resides. For fifty years Mother Brown had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal church. She never tired of telling of the trials and triumphs of the early itinerants, many of whom have shared the hospitality of her Christian home. A large and sympathetic congregation of neighbors, and friends from other portions of the county, followed her remains to their last resting place. We have no doubt of her abundant entrance into the city of God: “Weep not for her for she has crossed the river. We almost saw Him meet her on the shore And lead her through the golden gates where neither Sorrow or death can ever enter more. Weep not for her that she hath reached before us The safe, warm shelter of her long-loved home; Weep not for her, she may be bending o’er us, In quiet wonder when we, too, shall come.” File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/mi/ionia/obits/b/brown1351nob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/mifiles/ File size: 1.8 Kb
