Ionia County News, 5 Sep 1935

Roxie L. Castle was born in Ionia county, September 6, 1855.  On December 25, 
1872, she was united in marriage to William L. Brown, a soldier of the Civil 
War.  February 29, 1929, Mr. Brown preceded her in death.  To them were born 
three children, Abbie, William and Bernice, none of whom survive.  

Mr. and Mrs. Brown, for many years, lived on their farm in Lebanon township, 
Clinton county, and in later life, 18 years ago, retired to the village of 
Hubbardston to spend their remaining years.  After a long and painful illness 
Mrs. Brown died at her home in Hubbardston Tuesday, August 27, lacking but ten 
days of being eighty years of age.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Julia Ernst, Hubbardston, one brother, 
Herbert Castle, Ionia, one foster-granddaughter, Mary Jane Miller, of Fowler 
and two nephews, Fred Rice of Hubbardston and Clifford Rice of St. Johns.

Funeral services were held at the home Friday afternoon, with Rev. Floyd N. 
Drake officiating.  Burial was in the west Side cemetery.
