Ionia Standard, 29 Jul 1887

Another old resident and pioneer gone – Charlotte Brown, wife of James M. 
Brown, one of the old settlers of the town of Easton.  Came to Ionia in 1850; 
were married at Hackettstown, New Jersey; moved to Canada with a family of 
three children, and there raised a family of ten.  Raised the rest of their 
family, with the exception of the youngest which was born at their home in 
Easton where they remained until her death.  She peacefully passed away after 
60 years of married life, in her seventy-sixth year.  She was a kind and loving 
mother, an indulgent parent.  She leaves 8 children to mourn her loss and a 
bereaved husband to return to a lonely home, with the companion of his old age 
taken from him.
