Ionia Standard, Fri., January 11, 1918
Edwin R. Brown of Ionia township died at 12:30 Monday at the age of 85 years.  
The funeral was held at 1:00 o'clock fast time, Wednesday afternoon at the 
house, Rev. E.E. Branch officiating.

The funeral for Edwin R. Brown of Ionia Township was held at the home on 
Wednesday Rev. E.E. Branch officiating.  Mrs. R.A. Colwell and Mrs. John 
Hodgkins sang.  Burial was in Oakhill cemetery.  Here from outside the city 
were Mr. and Mrs. Dave Thomas of Grand Rapids. Deceased was one of the most 
highly respected residents of the townhip - a worthy pioneer.  He had been 
honored by his township by election and re-election to the office of Justice 
of the Peace for many years in this township, where political upheavals occur 
with nearly every returning town meeting day.  He was strictly honest and 
hnorable in all his dealings with men.
