The Portland Observer, Thursday, September 18, 1952

Funeral services were held last Saturday afternoon at Neller Funeral Home for 
Mrs. Emma L. Brown, 82, who died at her home on Portland route 3, Wednesday 
night of last week.  Rev. Keith Avery officiated at the services, and burial 
was in Portland cemetery.

Surviving is one daughter, Mrs. Elsie Beirstetel, of Portland, and two 
grandchildren.

Mrs. Brown was born, the daughter of Lafayette Selden, on Feb. 28, 1869, and 
lived all her life in this vicinity.  She was born in a home across the road 
from the one in which she died.

Bearers were George Hudson, Vern Whitacre, Elmer Smith, Basil Jackson, Ivan 
Wilcox and Milo Stewart.
