All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/mi/mifiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Marilyn Ransom mlnransom@chartermi.net May 7, 2012, 6:26 pm The Portland Observer, Thursday, December 20, 1923 Becoming alarmed over the absence of her aged husband, Saturday evening, Mrs. Herman Brown, of Sebewa, went to the barn where he had been doing the chores and found him lying unconscious on the barn floor, where he had fallen from the haymow, striking on his head and fracturing his skull. He passed away about two hours later. Mr. Brown was Sebewa’s oldest pioneer resident. He was a veteran of the Civil war and would have been 85 years of age the 23rd of this month. His parents moved to Sebewa when he was less than one year old, and he had resided continuously on the farm which they wrested from the wilderness for over 84 years. The only near surviving relative is the widow, I. A. Brown, a brother, having passed away several years ago. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon.
