The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Friday, January 17, 1958

Mrs. Frederick W. (Nellie A.) Brown, 87, died suddenly Thursday evening at 8 
o’clock at the home of her sister, Mrs. Sydney Jackson of 316 East Main 
street, with whom she had made her home in both Ionia and Jackson for a number 
of years.

Born in Jackson, November 22, 1870, she was a daughter of Chester H. and Rhoda 
L. Bangs and was secretary to the superintendent of the Jackson Inter-Urban 
Line for many years.  She was married to Frederick W. Brown in 1924 and he 
died in 1934.  Mrs. Brown was a member of First Baptist church of Jackson.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Jackson of Ionia, and Mrs. Bertha R. Town of 
Jackson and a niece, Mrs. Thayne E. Ware of Battle Creek.

Funeral service will be conducted at Boynton’s funeral home Monday at 1:30 
with the Rev. Alfred P. Miller, pastor of the Ionia First Baptist church 
officiating.  Interment will be in Oak Hill cemetery, Grand Rapids.  The 
family will be at the funeral home Sunday afternoon from 1 to 5.  
Contributions are being accepted for the new chandelier for the Jackson 
memorial room of the First Presbyterian church.
