The Ionia Sentinel-Standard, Thursday, March 17, 1938

Mrs. Ellthie Deal Brown, 33, of Orange township, died Wednesday evening, March 
16, at 8’clock at the home of Fred Deal, with whom she had lived since she was 
three years old.  She had been critically ill with heart trouble since 
December 20.

She was born April 4, 1905, in Nelson township, of Kent county, and graduated 
from Belding high school in 1922.  Following her graduation from the Ionia 
county normal in 1923, she taught school for one year in the rural districts.  
She was married to Leo Brown, of Charlotte, in 1925, and divorced in 1931.  
The last 12 years she spent in Grand Rapids, where she was employed.  She came 
to her home in Orange township November 1, 1937.  

She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Mae Woodbeck, of Bellevue; one sister, 
Miss Nita Noo, of Detroit, and two half-brothers, Jack and Gale Woodbeck, 
Bellevue. 

Funeral services will be held from the home of Fred Deal Sunday, March 20, at 
2 o’clock, with interment in the mausoleum at Belding.
