Ionia Sentinel Standard, 11 Oct 1985

Burton T. Brown, 73, of 9670 David Highway, Pewamo, died October 9 at a Lansing 
hospital.  He was born September 14, 1912, the son of Harry and Edna Chase 
Brown.  He was a retired service manager of John Deere in Portland.

He is survived by his wife, Marian; nine sons, James of Florida; Joel, William 
O., Thomas and Christopher, all of Portland; Jerrold of Ionia; Jon and Brian of 
Pewamo; and Michael of Sunfield; three daughters, Mrs. George (Janice) 
Livingston, Mrs. Kenneth (Joan) Guy and Mrs. Frederick (Anne) Russman, all of 
Portland; 36 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Rose Pohl 
of Pewamo; three sisters, Cleda Sawyer of Portland; Arlene Jaress of Seattle, 
Washington; and Barbara Fitzpatrick of Grand Rapids.   One son, Jeffery, 
preceded him in death in April.

Rosary services will be Friday at 8 p.m. at the Neller Funeral Home.  Funeral 
Mass will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church in Portland, the Rev. 
Richard VanLente officiating.  Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, 
Ionia.  Pallbearers will be grandsons Richard Lazarus, Michael and Daryl Guy, 
Douglas, Joel and David Brown.
