Ionia Sentinel Standard, 12 Apr 1968

William A. Brown, 84, of 74 Center, Saranac, died Thursday evening at an Ionia
rest home.  Born January 11, 1884, in Ontario, Canada, he moved to Cass City as
a small boy.

He was married to a Elida McGillis of Cadillac and moved to Grand Rapids where
he lived 25 years.  He operated a gas, oil and coal business and ran the first
drive-in gas station in the Wyoming area.  In 1939 he moved to Saranac where he
operated the W.A. Brown general store, selling the business in 1953 at which
time he retired.  He was a member of the Odd Fellows lodge and Wyoming Park EUB
church.

Surviving are his wife Elida K.; one daughter, Mrs. Herbert Beyer of Wyoming;
two grandchildren.  Funeral services will be Sunday at 3 pm at Morris Roetman
funeral home with Rev. Eldon Cummings officiating.  Interment will be in Saranac
cemetery.
