Ionia Sentinel Standard, May 2007

Shirley Ann Brown, 56, of Portland, passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2007.  She 
was born on November 16, 1950 in Ionia, the daughter of Carl and Donna (Decker) 
Higgins. Shirley worked for the State of Michigan and also as a day care 
provider out of her home.

Her greatest love was enjoying her family and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Wayne of Portland; son, Jason (Beth) Brown of 
Caledonia, MI; daughter, Angela (Chuck) Schafer of Portland, MI; grandchildren, 
Hannah and Braden Schafer; step-grandchild, Kylee Mulder; aunt, Betty Layle of 
Ionia; brothers-in-law, Dale Brown of Muir and Richard Brown of Muir; and 
mother-in-law, Phyllis Brown of Muir.	

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 19, 2007 at the 
Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland, with Rev. Gerard 
Brown officiating.  Interment will follow at Portland Cemetery. The family will 
receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. 
Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation in Shirley's name.
