Belding Banner-News, 2 Apr 1924

Wm L. Brown, a pioneer of Ionia county and a former resident of Orleans
township, passed away at the home of his son, L. Eugene Brown, at Portland,
Mich., March 25, his 83rd birthday anniversary.  Mr. Brown was born at Hartford
Mills, New York March 25, 1841 and was married to Saloma C. Howard, January 1,
1862, where they resided until moving to Portland, Mich., in December, 1868. 
Six children were born to them and three survive.  After the death of Mrs.
Brown, in Orleans township, in 1894, he married Mrs. Delia Chadwick, she having
passed away several years ago.  The funeral service was held at the home of the
son at 10 o’clock, March 29, 1924.  Burial at Green’s cemetery, Orleans
township.  He was a kind father, good neighbor and friend.  The surviving
children are:  Mrs. J. Jay Raby, of Lansing; Mrs. G. D. Rowley, of Halfway, and
L. Eugene Brown, whose home is now at Belding.
