Phyllis M. (Young) Brown, 92, of Muir, passed away May 9, 2013 in Muir. She was 
born March 11, 1921 in Berlin Twp., the daughter of Raymond and Mabel 
(Ritenburg) Young.

Phyllis married Gerald M. Brown in 1939 in Indiana. He preceded her in death in 
1996. She owned/operated Muir Electric for many years with her husband Gerald.

Phyllis is survived by her sons, Dale Brown of Muir, Richard Brown of Muir, 
Wayne Brown and friend Deanna of Portland; grandchildren, Angela (Thomas) 
Shinaver of Portland and Jason (Beth) Brown of Caledonia; great-grandchildren, 
Hannah, Braden, Kylee and Justin; step-great-grandchildren, Brittany, Lance and 
Carly; great-great-grandchinl, Kellin.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald Brown; her parents; one infant 
daughter; daughter-in-law, Shirley; brothers, Donald Young and Joyn Young; and 
sister, Lucille Andersen. 

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 14 at Lake Funeral Home 
of Ionia with Pastor Gerard Brown officiating. Visitation will be held 5-8 p.m. 
Monday, May 13 at the funeral home. Interment Oakwood Cemetery. Memorial 
contributions may be made in Phyllis’s name to the Village of Muir Playground 
Equipment Fund.
