In the year 1879 Mr. Brown was united in marriage to Miss Emma Bricker and to this union were born three children, Mattie, now Mrs. Robert McConnell; Rena, now Mrs. L. A. Gleason, and an infant son who was born in 1888, who died at the age of only a few days, his mother passing out of earth life at about the same time. On December 24, 1890 Mr. Brown was united in marriage to Miss Clara Henry, of Stanton. To this later union one daughter, Ida, was born. She died at the age of four months. Fraternally, Mr. Brown was a member of the I.O.O.F., belonging to lodge No. 92 and also of the Modern Woodmen of America. He was a good neighbor and was held in the highest esteem by all who knew him. He lived in Belding from the time of his first marriage, until 1907, when he moved from here to Muskegon, where he resided until a few weeks before his death, when he came to the home of his daughter, Mrs. Robert McConnell, to spend his few remaining days. Surviving are the widow, the two daughters before mentioned, ten grandchildren and a host of friends in both Belding and Muskegon, who mourn in his passing the loss of a true and loving husband and father, neighbor, friend and citizen of the highest character and type.
