Janet Frances (Gooding) Brown, 73, of Ionia passed away peacefully with her 
loving family at her side on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014.  She had fought a 
courageous but very short battle with cancer.  Janet was born July 24, 1940, in 
Ypsilanti, Mich., the daughter of Edmond and Mae (Beckett) Gooding. 

She moved back and forth between the Ionia and Ypsilanti areas during her 
youth, graduating from Ann Arbor Pioneer High School.  A few years later, she 
returned to Ionia and remained here for the rest of her life.  She was a 
devoted mother and grandmother. 

Janet is loved and survived by her two sons, Edward Brown of West Olive, and 
Joseph (Tonya) Brown of Fenwick; grandchildren Alex (Bethany) Brown of Arizona, 
Leslie (Aaron) McCormick of Hudsonville, Andrew Brown of Hudsonville, Nicholas, 
Anna, and Kathryn Brown of Fenwick; great grandson Gavin Brown of Arizona; 
several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Edmund; sisters Betty and 
Jackie; nephews Gordon and Robert.

In keeping with Janet's wishes, no funeral service will be held.  The family 
may host a gathering in celebration of her life in the upcoming months.
