Brown, 83, died at her home in Ionia township Monday night following an illness of several weeks. She had been in ?? health for the past three years but had been seriously ill for the past three weeks. She was born December 1, 1851, in Canada, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Knolty. When she was 10 years old she moved with her parents to Michigan and they settled in Ionia township, where she had resided every since. She was married April 3, 1874, to Edwin R. Brown, and they began housekeeping in the house in Ionia township where Mrs. Brown had resided for the past 61 years. Mr. Brown died January 3, 1918, and after his death Mrs. Brown continued to reside in the old homestead. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist church, Ionia. She was one of a family of 12 children, all of whom are dead. Surviving are one step-son, Harry M. Brown, at home, one nephew, Edward Knolty, of Lyons; and four nieces, Mrs. Jay Haysmer, State street; Mrs. Myrtle Paul, Minneapolis; Mrs. Harry MacDougall, of Ohio and Mrs. Clara Carr, Belle Else, Detroit. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Seventh Day Adventist church with Rev. B.F. Williams, of Flint, officiating. Bearers will be Bert Stains, of Fenwick; Forest and James Stevenson, Palo; Ernest DeHart, Frank Root and Frank Stevens. Interment will be at the family lot at Oak Hill cemetery.
