He was born May 6, 1913, in Muir, the son of William and Lillie Heydauliff Brown. He attended Hayes rural school, served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and retired from Extruded Metal of Belding in 1972. He also was a farmer. He was a member of Lyons-Muir VFW Post 4646. He was married to Louva Dennis in July 1942 in Lyons. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Herbert Brown of St. Johns and Kenneth Townsend of Muir; a daughter, Donna Jean Lehman of Fenwick; 17 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren; and a brother, Clee Brown, of Muir. Funeral services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. from Hull Memorial Chapel, Muir, with the Rev. Kenneth Harger of Shiloh Community Church officiating. A memorial has been established for the Building Fund, VFW Post 4646, in care of the funeral home. The family will be at the funeral home Tuesday and Wednesday.
