The daughter of Matt W. and Lydia Vantassell, she was born in Millbrook April 10, 1872. Her maiden name was Lillian May Vantassell. She moved to Belding 15 years ago from Perry. She was also a former resident of Carson City and Grand Ledge. For her second marriage, she was wed to Marshall Brown December 2, 1914, in Charlotte. Surviving her are five daughters, Martha and Neva Hawley of Flint, Marie Hawley of Clarkston and Mrs. Alice Rich and Mrs. Christina Wacha of Belding; three sons, Daniel and Don Hawley of Flint and Marshall Brown Jr., of Belding; 10 grandchildren; one greatgrandchild; three sisters, Mrs. Edna Falter and Mrs. Frona Hoover of Detroit and Mrs. Pearl Currier of Crystal Lake; and two brothers, George Vantassell of Carson City and William Vantassell of Detroit. Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Fitzjohn funeral chapel with the Rev. H. S. Ellis officiating. Interment will be in Green cemetery.
