PHYLLIS BROWN 1925-2017
Phyllis Iola Brown, age 91 of Saranac, MI, passed away March 15, 2017. She was 
born July 30, 1925 in  Six Lakes, MI the daughter of Lester and Leda (Nelson) 
Reynolds.

She graduated from Blanchard High School, Class of 1943. Phyllis married Dwight 
Brown Sept. 4, 1947 in Six Lakes. She joined him in running the Saranac 
Advertiser for many years until retiring. She was a member and past president, 
Historian of Saranac American Legion ladies Auxiliary Post 175. Phyllis was 
Instrumental in Memorial Poppy sales and funeral luncheons. She loved to travel, 
enjoyed her family and friends and entertaining them at their home.

Phyllis is survived by her children, Roger (Teresa) Brown of Florida, Ed (Deb) 
Brown of Ionia, John (Frances) Brown of Saranac; son-in-law Gary Christensen of 
McBride; brother, Seymour (Kakie) Reynolds of Sydney; sister, Joyce (Phil) Lator 
of Ashley; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Dwight; two daughters, Cathy 
Avery and Shirley Christiansen; and son-in-law, Tom Avery.

Funeral services for Phyllis will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 21 p.m. at 
Lake Funeral Home in Ionia with Pastor Becky Poor officiating. Interment Saranac 
Cemetery. Visitation Monday 5-7 p.m. at the Funeral home. In Lieu of flowers 
memorial donations may be made to American legion ladies Auxiliary Post 175.
