Excerpts from Ionia Obituary

MARCIA GAYLE BROWN

Died December 17, 2025-age 92 of Ionia, formerly of Petoskey.
Born May 25, 1933 in Mt.Morris,MI.daughter of Roger Maurice & Vera Viola (Dye) 
Genshaw.
Married Wayne E. Brown on September 15, 1951.
Marcia was a full-time mother & homemaker most of her life, working retail 
occasionally when her children were grown.
She loved to sell baked good out of her home. Also worked at the bakery at 
Meijer in Ionia.
She & Wayne lived in Ionia for many years, until moving to Petosky where they 
lived for 20 years.
Marcia enjoyed crocheting, reading, playing Bingo cards & spending time with 
family.
Survived by her children, Denise (Brad) Curtis of Ionia, Steve Brown of Tarrs, 
PA, Karen (Richard) Kavanagh of Hubbardston, 5 grandchildren one step-grandchild 
& 7 great-grandchildren; brother Roger (Gail) Genshaw & several nieces & 
nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband,Wayne, two sisters, Anna Jeane Fall, Maurine 
Richie & a grandchild, Stephen Brown II.
A special thank you to staff at Optalis Healthcare of Ionia & Corewell Hospice 
for the care to mother & to the family.
A memorial service being planned for April 11, 2026 at Lake Funeral Home at 
11:00am. with visitation an hour prior to the service.
Memorial contributions can be made to Corewell Hospice or Ionia First 
Presbyterian Church.
