Mr. Brown was born in Herkimer County, New York, November 19, 1844 and came to Michigan when a lad of 13 years and located with his parents on what is now known as the Brayton homestead. At the beginning of the Civil war he enlisted and remained in service until the war’s close. Shortly after the war he was united in marriage to Jennie Castle. She died in 1874. Their two children, Carie and Mary died before the death of their mother. Two years later he married a second time and by this marriage he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Abbie Miller of Fowler. Two other children, Bernice and William died before maturity. The funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the residence in Hubbardston and burial will be in the West Side cemetery.
