Thursday of last week Ed DAVIS and wife of Chippewa Lake, whom he had not seen for twenty-five years and R. B. COWLES and wife visited him and he seemed to be feeling fine and enjoyed the visit. He slept like a child all night, but on arising Friday wa stricken with paralysis and was unconcious till 7 o'clock p. m., when he passed away so peaceful that if his wife and children had not been watching him the change would not have been noticable. Seven years ago while living in Grand Rapids he suffered a stroke of paralysis, since that time he has been unable to do any business, but enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbors. Mr. Brown was elected County Treasurer in 1892 and held the office two terms. He enlisted in the army and was a member of Co. f. 31st Wisconsin Volunteers. He was born September 27, 1841 at Elton, Cattaraugus Co., New York, and died March 7, 1913, aged seventy-one years, 5 months and eight days. At the age of fifteen he moved with his parents to Green County, Wisconsin where at the age of twenty-five he was united in marriage to Margret HYMERS. In 1867 they moved to a farm three miles south of Belding where he resided for twenty-four years since that time he has resided in Belding with the exception of four years that he lived in Grand Rapids. He is survived by a wife, four children, Mrs. Elmer COOK, Arthur and Vern BROWN of Belding and Mrs. Albert RISCHEL of Grand Rapids, fourteen grrandchildren and one great grandchild, two sisters, Mrs. Marian FULTON of Carson City and Mrs. Charles DUMON of Smyrna. The funeral was largely attended at the late residence, Monday afternoon, Rev. Wm. A. BISS of the Baptist church officiating. Many floral offerings bespoke the esteem in which he was held.
