BROWN, Viva J.

Ionia Sentinel Standard

Mrs. Viva J. Brown, 72, of Ionia formerly of Lansing passed away Saturday, March
23, 2002 at the Ionia County Memorial Hospital.

She was born on June 2, 1929 in Remus, the daughter of Irwin C. and Retah Roda
(Swartz) Brown. Viva worked at the Casanova Restaurant in Lansing and the Meijer
in Ionia for eight years.

Surviving are one daughter, Roxanne (Larry) Thelen of Ionia; two sons, Gary
Brown of California and Larry (Lianna) Gladding of Lyons; three grandchildren,
J.R., Tara and Lacy; one brother, Newt (Bonnie) Brown of Remus; one sister,
Subinah Howe of Morley; and several nieces and nephews.

Viva was preceded in death by six brothers.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m.,
Wednesday at the Cook Funeral Home in Ionia with Rev. Carol Meeder from the
First Christian Church officiating.

Visitation is 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday at the Rich
Street Chapel of Cook Funeral Home in Ionia.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Arthritis Foundation in care of the
funeral home.
