He was born on June 19, 1934 the son of Veda Brown Courser. Phillip retired in 1999 as a millwright from General Motors (Building Repair - Main Plant) after 41 years of service. He graduated from Sexton High School and went on to play baseball at the AAA (with Norm Cash) level. He enjoyed attending sporting events at all levels and was an avid Spartan fan. He loved golfing and living on the Grand River enjoying time with family and friends. Phillip was preceded in death by his wife, Julie and his daughter, Gina. Surviving are his children: Lisa (William) Atwell and Mark (Lynn) Brown; grandchildren: Ryan (Audrey) Atwell, Brett Atwell, Whitney (Troy) Daily, Haley (Alex) Bettinghouse, Angela (Seth) Wilson and Megan (Dustin) Baker; great grandchildren: Kylie and Alex Atwell, Zoey Wilson and Spencer Bettinghouse. The Funeral Service will be conducted by Pastor Ed Filter at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2015 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 8867 Kent St., Portland. The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. on Friday at the Lehman Funeral Home, 210 E. Bridge St., Portland. A special thank you to McLaren Homecare Hospice for their care given to our father.
