She was 24 years of age and for the past four years has suffered from a peculiar malady which caused an abnormal growth of fatty tissue with the result that at the time of her death, her weight had reached more than 550 pounds. For several months she has been unable to leave her bed, and although everything was done that could be, no remedy could be found for the trouble which finally caused her death. Funeral services will be held from the residence. ------------ The funeral for Miss Bernice Brown was held yesterday afternoon from the home, 679 W. Washington street. Rev. Fr. McCarthy officiated and interment was in Highland Park cemetery. The bearers were William Powell, Ray Curtis, James I. Williston, Charles Ward, W.F. Soule, Frank Carten, A.L. McKee and Fred Longe.
