Sarah L. Brown, 78, of Alto and formerly of Ionia died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 1995 
at Metropolitan Hospital in Grand Rapids.

She was born Jan. 1, 1917 in Ionia, the daughter of Thomas F. and Olive (Kidd) 
McGannon.  She was educated at SS. Peter and Paul Academy and was married to 
Edward H. Brown in 1937.  She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic 
Church in Ionia.

She is survived by three sons: Charles T. (Kathleen) Brown, of East Grand 
Rapids, Joseph E. (Sandra) Brown, of Saranac, and Richard (Gerri) Brown, of 
Ada; four daughters: Ann (Tom) Scovel, of Grandville, Patricia Bessone, of New 
York, Mary M. Wilkinson, of Grand Rapids, and Olive B. Brown, of New York; 22 
grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two grandchildren: 
Thomas and Matthew Brown; three brothers: Charles, Lawrence and Joseph; and 
five sisters: Mary, Olive, Katherine, Nora and Jean.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic 
Church with Fr. Charles Hall presiding.  Interment will be in the spring at 
Mount Olivet Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the 
Cook Funeral Home in Ionia.  A scripture service will be held on at 8 p.m. 
Friday at the Rich St. Chapel.  Memorial contributions may be made to SS. Peter 
and Paul Catholic Church.
