Ireta Kathleen Brownell, age 76, of Ionia passed away Monday, April 7, 2003 in 
Ionia.

She was born May 28, 1926 in Charlotte, the daughter of Hollis and Dorothy 
(Yonkers) Luce.  She was a local farmer’s wife for 19 years and worked at the 
Ionia Manor for 8 years.  She had a special love for crocheting and knitting, 
tending to her garden, and had a special place in her heart for her children 
and grandchildren.

Surviving are five sons; George of Zephyrhills, Florida, Daniel, Harold 
Jr. “Bill”, Howard, and Raymond, all of Ionia; three daughters, Marsha 
Wolfington of Ionia, Iva Brownell of Fenwick, and Martha (Greg) Stull of 
Ionia; 20 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four brothers; D.H.; C.G.; 
L.Y.; and R.B. Luce; and one sister Darlene.

Mrs. Brownell was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, in 1990; one 
grandson; one granddaughter; and four sisters.

The funeral liturgy will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, 
Cook Chapel, 220 Rich Street, Ionia, with Fr. Melvin Fox, Pastor of SS Peter & 
Paul Church officiating.  Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.  
The family will receive friends at the funeral home 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 
p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the family for a 
memorial to be chosen at a later date in memory of Ireta Kathleen Brownell.  
Arrangements are entrusted to the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Cook Chapel.
