Almira C. Brownell passed from this life, July 14th. Funeral services were held from her daughter’s, Mrs. Hough’s on July 15th, and the remains were taken to Williamston, Ingham Co., to be laid beside her husband who is buried there. Mrs. Brownell was born August 6th, 1827, in Junius, Seneca county, N.Y. She was the daughter of the Rev. William Brown, a pioneer Baptist minister, who lived and labored in Seneca county, N.Y. She was married, Feb. 23rd, 1850, to Phillip F. Brownell, of Duchess county, New York. To this union were born seven children, three daughters and four sons. Two daughters and one son are still living, viz.: Mrs. Wm. A. McIntyre, and Mrs. Wm. Hough, both of Belding, and J.W. Brownell, of Duluth, Minn. In her early girlhood she united with an “Old School” Baptist church. At the time of her death she was a member of the Baptist church here in Belding. Life brought many trials to Mrs. B. but through Christ she has come off more than conqueror. A trusting disciple, a loving mother, a victorious Christian.
