Portland Observer, 5 Feb 1930

Augustus O. Browning, aged 86, died at his home near the northern limits of the 
village last Friday night following an illness of two weeks.  Funeral services 
were held from the home of his daughter Mrs. Peter Robertson, Monday afternoon, 
in charge of Rev. John H. Stewart and Rev. J. C. Stewart.

Mr. Browning had been a resident of this vicinity for many years.  He was born 
at Royalton, N.Y., May 12, 1843, and when 30 years of age settled in Michigan.  
Some time later he was married to Miss Augusta E. Outwater.  The couple settled 
on a farm in Eagle township where they resided for about ten years when they 
moved to Portland.  They later bought the home where the death of Mr. Browning 
occurred.

Beside the wife he is survived by three daughters and two sons.  They are :  
Mrs. Peter Robertson, Portland; Mrs. W. W. Munger, Seattle, Wash.; Mrs. M. G. 
Corlett, Battle Creek; Wilbur Browning, Rockford, and Clifford Browning, 
Lansing.  Orlando C. Browning, of Portland, is a brother.
